For the 8th year, FLOC is calling on Reynolds to sign an agreement guaranteeing labor rights in their supply chain. For the last three years, FLOC has been in discussions with multiple tobacco companies around a solution to the abuses in NC tobacco fields. However, the industry would rather implement programs that only touch the surface of the issues in the NC fields rather than sign an agreement with FLOC, allowing workers to negotiate their own solutions.
Until they sign an agreement, this campaign continues!
Join us on May 5th for a picket outside of Reynolds’ annual shareholders meeting, followed by a march through downtown Winston Salem and a rally in the park.
9:30am: Meet at Winston Square Park: 310 Marshall St. N Winston Salem, NC 27101. There is street parking all around the park, as well as a large open lot with free parking located between 1st St and 2nd Street with entrances on Cherry St and Marshall St. You will see a small sign upon entering the lot that says “First Presbyterian Church.” (SEE MAP BELOW FOR PARKING)
10:00: Picket outside Reynolds American Headquarters: 401 N Main St. Once you check in at Winston Square Park, we will give you picket materials and we will walk in groups to the picket point. (4-5 block walk) We will also have a vehicle available to drive people between the points.
10:45: We will leave from the picket point at Reynolds and march through Winston Salem back to Winston Square Park. The march is approximately .8 miles long. A vehicle will be available to drive anyone who cannot march back to the park.
11:30: Once we arrive back at Winston Square Park, we will have a brief rally and lunch will be provided.
