From 2008-2016, FLOC members and supporters gathered outside of Reynolds’ corporate headquarters during their annual shareholders meetings in an impressive show of community solidarity, bringing the issues that Reynolds refuses to discuss to their corporate boardroom.
At the 2011 Shareholders Meeting, Reynolds announced that they would take part in a multi-stakeholder group including FLOC, growers, other tobacco companies, and government agencies, to work toward a solution to the human rights abuses in the fields.
At the 2012 Shareholders Meeting, Reynolds finally agreed to meet one-on-one with FLOC, after 5 years of pressure from farmworkers and their allies.
As these talks continue, it is crucial to keep the pressure up and let the Reynolds leadership know that the community is united and will not give up until conditions are improved for the workers at the bottom of their supply chain.

In 2017, British American Tobacco (BAT) announced that they would be acquiring Reynolds American Inc. for $49 Billion. Since then, Reynolds has no longer had shareholders meetings, but we have continued to be in dialogue with both Reynolds and BAT. Read more about the latest talks between BAT and FLOC!
